Get a taste of local craft breweries near you!
Established in 2013, Hi-Wire Brewing has seen rapid growth with the expansion of four taprooms in three states, and they don’t plan to stop there. But while their progress is remarkable they stay dedicated to keeping it local, keeping it social and honoring the past. With a focus on their core line-up of craft session favorites and development of new recipe experimentation, we have a quick chat with co-founder Chris Frosaker to see what’s in-store for the future.
What is your favorite thing about being a brewer?
I am lucky enough to be able to be as creative as I want to be. It feels great always being able to think outside of the box.
What one beer of yours would you want people to try?
We released a new brand this year called, “Old North Premium Lager”, which is a throwback to when there were multiple regional light lager brewers in the US. It is super simple, clean, and crushable, and is now my go-to beer at home.
What exciting stuff can we expect from Hi-Wire in the near future?
We are constantly expanding our reach as a company. Look for a new market and a possible new taproom outside of Asheville this year.
Excluding your own, what beer have you had recently that has stood out to you?
I love Montucky Cold Snacks.
How do you try to differentiate yourselves in a wonderful but burgeoning craft beer market?
It’s all about innovation while also being approachable. We constantly are releasing new beers from the entire style spectrum, but we make it easy for craft beer fans to get them. We don’t believe in the hype/scarcity model. We just want to make extremely well-made products so customers know they can always rely on Hi-Wire.
How can we get our hands on your beer?
There are many ways. For distribution, we are available in the following states: North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and Virginia. We also have four tap rooms: two in Asheville, NC, one in Durham, NC, and one in Knoxville, TN. Finally, you can order for shipping to a large amount of states on our website.

TURMERIFIC! Let's face it. Allagash can do no wrong. Their craft is on point. But when you think about using Turmeric as an ingredient in beer, I had to wonder whether it would work. Their Kurkuma is a saison with an added kick of turmeric. Pouring a mildly hazy straw...
BEST DECADE EVER! Being a 90's kid (eek, showing my age here), I often hark back to the days of living carefree, with no adult responsibilities, no bills to pay, and all the time in the world to just do! So, when I saw Pariah Brewing has an Only 90's Kids Will Get...
RAGIN' GOOD! The humble amber ale. A staple beer that often gets overlooked by the hop bombs and puckering brews. This beer style is often standard fare, brewed to cater for less adventurous drinkers. But in this style lies the beauty of a beverage that is hard to...
